About New London, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The town of New London is located in Stanly County, North Carolina approximately thirty-two miles southwest of the city of Asheboro and is situated at the junction of US Highway 52 and NC State Highways 8 and 740.  Settled in 1830 as Bilesville by Thomas and Elizabeth Biles, the town’s name was changed during the 1870s and the city was officially incorporated as New London on March 25, 1891.

The town recently opened the New London Area Historical Museum located at 226 South Main Street in the old Peoples Bank & Trust Company building that was built during the early 1920s.  The museum features exhibits of items from the old Parker Gold Mine, place settings of silverware and tableware originally used by the extension ladies, New London High School trophies, and other area family items of interest.

Local attractions include Morrow Mountain State Park in nearby Albemarle that offers activities of fishing, boating, hiking, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, and more.  The park also houses an Exhibit Hall and Historical Site that features exhibits relative to the history of the American Indians and early explorers, and the circa 1870s homestead and infirmary of Dr. Francis Kron, the area’s first physician.

For family outings that can last for a week or a day, visit one of the local area gold mines that feature opportunities for both seasoned and first-time prospectors to try their hand at prospecting for gold in the very location where gold was first discovered in the county in the 1860s.  The Mountain Creek Gold Mine and Cotton Patch Gold Mine & Campground feature prospecting activities that include panning, sluicing, and hibanking for gold; camping in RVs, tents, or primitive cabins; and picnicking, playground facilities, and hiking and biking trails for the enjoyment of guests.

Today, New London is home to more than six-hundred friendly residents who enjoy the benefits of small town living, together with the community’s convenient proximity to Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Asheboro, and a pleasant seasonal climate that brings long, hot summers, moderately cold winters, and beautiful springtime and fall weather to the area!
